The origin of DCWéditions
Although the DCWéditions models may suggest otherwise, this French brand is of rather recent date. The Parisian designer label was established in 2008. Under the name of DCWéditions, Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler aimed to launch straightforward products in the market that could withstand the test of time.
Based on a design by Bernard-Albin Gras, Lampe Gras from DCWéditions was the first 'product' added to the collection. The original Gras lamp from 1921 was updated to ensure it would meet present-day standards. The success of this first DCWéditions product set the tone for the successes to come. In the years that followed, the Parisians launched a number of fabulous re-edits of classics.
Contemporary DCWéditions designs
Alongside breathing new life into old designs, DCWéditions also launches new designs in the market. Collections like ISP, In The Tube and In The Sun are clearly inspired by the past, yet undeniably contemporary.
This is also the strength of this French brand. By not falling victim to fads and trends, they have succeeded in maintaining their own distinctiveness that is as timeless as it is luxurious. In their own words: "We don't aim to please everyone, but we believe there are enough people out there with the same taste that our products are sure to find an audience."
The versatility of DCWéditions
The DCWéditions lighting range comprises only twenty collections. Yet this Parisian brand has succeeded in offering a tremendously diverse product range with this somewhat limited portfolio. The DCW Lampe Gras, for instance, is available in over thirty different models, including five that are suitable for outdoor use.
The DCW Mantis collection also shines in its diversity. The popular design by Bernard Schottlander from 1951 is available as a pendant lamp, table lamp, floor lamp and wall lamp.
