Cutting board in wood or plastic?

The favourite of professional chefs is undoubtedly a wooden cutting board. Despite the fact that this can get scratched, a thicker wooden cutting board will last for decades with proper maintenance. Moreover, it is also good for your knives. The softer the wood is the less it will affect the sharpness. What is the advantage of a cutting board with a juice slot?
